Greetings of the day!

=20

Job Title: Application for a postdoctoral research position-Reg.,

=20

I am Dr. K. Shanmugaraj, doing my post doctoral research in the department =
of materials engineering, faculty of engineering, University of Concepci=
=C3=B3n, Concepci=C3=B3n, Chile. I contacted you for a postdoctoral positio=
n last year. I am currently working in the Fondef (Chile) funded research p=
roject entitled =E2=80=9CDevelopment of a prototype of a comprehensive trea=
tment system of high efficiency for the removal of arsenic from water coupl=
ed to a photocatalysis process for its stabilization and safe disposal for =
the environment=E2=80=9D I have successfully completed the Fondecyt (Chile)=
funded major research project entitled =E2=80=9CI worked as a SERB-Nationa=
l postdoctoral principal researcher in research area =E2=80=9CSynthesis of =
bioconjugated metal nanoclusters for sensing of toxic chemicals and biomole=
culesImmobilization of noble metal nanoparticles on metal oxide nanotube su=
pports as catalysts for selective hydrogenation of nitroarenes=E2=80=9D as =
a principal investigator. =E2=80=9D in The Gandhigram Rural Institute, Gand=
higram, Dindugul, India.

I finished my PhD (Chemistry) under the guidance of Dr. M. Ilanchelian, Ass=
istant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Bharathiar University, Coimbator=
e, India. My PhD thesis entitled, =E2=80=9CExploring the biophysical aspect=
s of dye-protein, nanoparticle-protein systems by spectroscopic approaches =
and nanomaterials used as colorimetric and fluorescent probes for sensing a=
pplications=E2=80=9D.

The state-of-the-art in my doctoral and postdoctoral work is to design and =
development of nanomaterials for sensing, photocatalytic and heterogeneous =
catalytic applications. I have also experience on various characterization =
tools and sample preparation for instruments such as UV=E2=80=93Visible Spe=
ctrophotometer, Spectrofluorometer, DLS, SEM, HR-TEM, BET, XRD, HPLC, GC, X=
PS, and Raman Spectroscopy. It can be noted from my Curriculum-Vitae that I=
have been successful in publishing my research work in reputed internation=
al journals (Q1 & Q2) (Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biolog=
y, Dyes and Pigments, RSC Advances, New Journal of Chemistry, Journal of Mo=
lecular liquids, Materials, Catalysis today and Microchimica Acta etc.) to =
date and few articles are under review and in line for submission. Also, I =
have presented my research work in international conferences held in India,=
Chile, Singapore, USA and Mexico. Beyond my research successes, I have bee=
n fortunate to obtain a wide range of experience in supervising Masters Stu=
dents doing their project works.

I feel that with my research experience and proven publication record as a =
chemist will meet the required responsibility of the organization and simul=
taneously benefitting the knowledge of scientific endeavour with research c=
ollaborations has motivated me to apply for this position. It would provide=
an ideal niche for my pursuits and I believe I would do justice to the dem=
anding postdoctoral position that I expect at your esteemed University. Tha=
nk you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing from =
you in the near future.

Thanking You

Sincerely,

K. Shanmugaraj
